Samuel (Sam) Marks – Attorney
Sam is originally from Des Moines, Iowa and has been living in the area his whole life. Sam Graduated from University of Iowa in 1997 with a degree in Chemistry and then graduated from Drake Law School in 1999. Sam has been practicing law for over 20 years and has extensive experience with bankruptcies, foreclosures, consumer protection cases, divorces, and estates.
Jacob (Jake) Kerns – Attorney
Jake is originally from St. Joseph, Missouri and came to Des Moines in 2016 for law school. Jake graduated from Missouri Western State University in 2012 with a degree in Business and then graduated from Drake Law School in 2019. Jake has been working at Marks Law Firm for over 3 years now and has gained valuable first-hand experience in bankruptcies, foreclosures, consumer protection cases and much more.
Delainey Thorud – Law Clerk
Delainey is originally from Golden Valley, Minnesota and came to Des Moines in 2019 for college. She graduated from Drake University with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication in 2021 and has since taken over most of the communication roles in our office. Delainey has been working at Marks Law Firm for almost two years and her favorite part of working here is getting to listen to and learn about each client’s individual story.
Elyse Dye – Law Clerk
Elyse is originally from Davenport, Iowa and came to Des Moines in 2018 for college. She is currently studying Law, Politics and Society and History at Drake University and hopes to go to law school in the future. Elyse has been working at Marks Law Firm for over a year and her favorite part of working here is assisting the attorneys in writing and editing legal documents in preparation for law school.
Abigail (Abbie) Luteke – Law Clerk
Abbie is originally from Liberty, Missouri and came to Des Moines in 2019 for college. She is currently studying Law, Politics and Society at Drake University and hopes to go to law school in the future. Abbie is quickly learning the tricks of the trade and has jumped right into assisting the attorney’s with Consumer Protection lawsuits. Her favorite part about working here is seeing how different law offices are run and gaining experience in the legal field.
